Eye of the beholder

I’ve always appreciated those who can look through a lens and create something interesting. Having a background in video and film, I am more of a visual person so when I stumble across a photography site, I tend to get a little more excited in regards to writing content.

Allison Ragsdale Photography, which specializes in everything from senior portraits in La Plata County to maternity photography in Durango to Bayfield Colorado children’s photography is a company that will turn out the best professional portraits in Colorado.

If you live in the area, I would highly recommend checking out her work as it’s quite remarkable!

Reputation: Does An SEO Good

I’ve been building my reputation at a political forum once more to promote a site of ours secretively and I found that with certain forums, they will actually block you from being able to link spam their forums! Really an ingenious setup. You certainly don’t want your forums known for unsavory things. But what I’m trying to promote is actually relevant and will stay as such.

Anyways, not only the reputation of a character, but the reputation of a site does a world of good. The length of time the domain has been active, how kind you are as well as informative. The look and feel of the site. All of it matters to the user and with some of those variables, it matters to search engines as well. Namely the look, feel, and length. But it’s certainly not as big an issue as content and such. Here’s to learning more about politics!

Abstract Vector Images

Today I managed to have some Illustrator fun while working on a web design.

Abstract images are currently all the rage - in fact, it seems like the more abstract your site is, the better. And Illustrator has just the thing for them, even if you don’t have any immediate visualization in mind.

To make a great mesh affect, take your pen tool, and make 2 curves near each other. Then go to object -> blend -> make. After you’ve done this, go back to object -> blend, but this time click on blend options. You get a menu; go to specific steps, and put in as many lines as looks good for your blend. You’ve just created modern art! From here you can edit things. Also, make sure that you have your fill effects disabled, otherwise it looks weird ;)

If you are going to pay $3k plus, why don’t you care about it?

Seriously, it amazes me that clients will pay three thousand dollars or more, and yet not even care about it. Two sites that I’ve been working on are done, and just need the client’s logo, or their content, or various other things. And the clients either have someone else pick up to say they are on vacation, or do not respond to emails/phone calls, or even get back to me with them.

Do people just take money for granted or something? I don’t really view that sort of thing as a light investment; I’d be all over the web design tech going when’s it going to be done, how’s it going, and being all-around annoying until it’s done to my satisfaction! (cue Satisfaction by Benny Benassi right here). Well, okay, from the perspective of said designer maybe that’s not such a good idea, but that’s still quite a bit of money. That might not pay for college, but it’s definitely about three to five months of rent!

But what can you do? It’s not really my money to mess around with; all I can do is try calling and emailing them until they finally respond. I thought that one client would be good enough to respond when I actually received a single image for her site, but as it turns out… No response at all. No images like I asked for to help her sell her stuff, no brief description of the types of properties she has, nothing. You’d think that with the economy the way it is, she could at least call or something. But nope. Not one word. Another one keeps saying he’s on vacation; said ‘vacation’ was supposedly supposed to be over about a week ago.

Oy ve, people, would you rather just give your money to me to pay rent? It’s worth more that way than paying for a website that you don’t ask for updates on or otherwise show any kind of care about after the first tech call!
