Free Designing Sites

Creating a new site, with no original site can be a tough process…..worrying about whether or not the client will like your design, what there original site actually looked like, logos? etc….

For seo purposes this really is not a problem, like I was stressing over this morning…I figured if I just the content and made my own style then the site would be alright….until the client calls…..oh well, content is done it is being submitted and rank will commence….

Joomla Shopping Carts

Joomla is an open source CMS that offers really good components and modules for a lot of different things. Right now I am working on a client that needs a shopping cart for people to purchase an evaluation package. Going through the different extensions on joomla.com and trying them out I found that the one that works best is Virtuemart. There are so many different features such as adding unlimited categories of products, setting your own price and adding thumbnail photos for each product. Also Virtuemart also has a giant list of other components to back it up. So if you are using joomla and you need a shopping cart Virtuemart is the way to go.

Daily Blogroll #4

Today I started by trying to work on http://humble-homes.com/. The site needed content and bullets extremely bad.  I went ahead and conjured up some very revelant and keyword rich paragraphs.  After which I then revised and editted the keywords to make some very powerful bulleted list that were soaking with keyword density.  It was keyword penetration at its best.

Next I was assigned http://babypugsforsale.com/.  The best part about this site was that I needed to completely redo the site.  I started with making a very cool header in photoshop.  I used a style of header that I pioneered hear at BDI.  It gives the illusion that objects in the header are actually protruding out of the header and on the page.  If you go to the site, you will notice that I used an illusion to make the cropped out dog look like it was not apart of the header, but over it.  Then I used some other cute images for fillers (after cropping them of course), and added the original style of header as the centerpiece so the logo would stand out.  Then I used a downloadable PS (photoshop) brush that consisted of flowers and grass.  I added those on saved it.  Using CSS, I edit the position of the header to continue the illusion I was creating.  Then I went ahead to finish styling accordingly.  Next I wrote all of the content and added bullets and did the same for the other secondary pages.

Linking for SEO

When it comes to web sites and SEO, we use different types of HTML coding and languages. One way to get good rankings is to use hyperlinks, which is a reference or navigation element in a document to another section of the same document or to another document that may be on a (different) website.

Link behavior in web browsers

A web browser usually displays a hyperlink in some distinguishing way, e.g. in a different colour, font or style. The behaviour and style of links can be specified using the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) language.

In a graphical user interface, the appearance of a mouse cursor may change into a hand motif to indicate a link. In most graphical web browsers, links are displayed in underlined blue text when not cached, but underlined purple text when cached. When the user activates the link (e.g. by clicking on it with the mouse) the browser will display the target of the link. If the target is not an HTML file, depending on the file typeand on the browser and its plugins, another program may be activated to open the file.

Winding Down

Back to working on sites for affordable web design in Las Vegas, I figured I would put a tad more look throughout the site. Making the header image meet with a shadowed looking side image I placed onto the main div. Pushing all of the other divs inside the main to the right so they all conform within the peach tone of the side beside the image so nothing gets caught in the middle. Now to think of a new design hopefully.

Daily Blogroll #3

Today I started my day with http://humblehomes.net/.  This site kind of caught me by surprise.  It is usign a different system than what I am used to.  I had to figure out how change the database information using the contents of the FTP server when I am actually used to using a separate site and system for such.  An associate helped me figure out the issue and it turned out to be very simple and I ended up turning a mountain out of a molehill.

I then worked on http://manhattanclosetsonline.com/.  This site needed alot of content and alot of bullets.  This task was very easy and I was able to accomodate the with such.  Then I needed to change the CSS so I could make it to where the bullets would actually show up.  The permissions were not changed at all for the site so I needed to go into the FTP server to change the file type.  I went to the sites FTP and changed the information.  Well after a little bit of and frustration, I realized that the site was in fact also on another IP address/  I went ahead and found where I was having a mistake and rectified it.  I then was able to change the permissions, and in turn able to change the CSS.

Next I had to work on http://thebluescruise.net/ which is a SPLASH site.  This site had plenty of content but not nearly enough bulleted list for keywords and other information.  I had to long into the FTP server for this information so I could edit the index.html which is was holds the displayed information for the home page.  After I tapped into the system I went ahead and created a few bulleted lists and editted them in at the correct places and positions.  The site looks great.

Blog the Blog

We do blogs every day here in the office, and it does not go without reason. Blogs are a type of website that contains mainly web pages authored in html. Millions of people use blogs online. A blog is now the new “Home Page”, that is, a place where a persona can reveal personal information, and/or build a concept as to who this persona is. Even though a blog may be written for other purposes, such as promoting a business, the core of a blog is the fact that it is written by a “person” and that person reveals information from her/his perspective. We use blogs in SEO to help with our business. Here you can visit our web site!

Changing It Up

Working on the design for different sites for the same company is kind of tiring when you use up all your good ideas. Luckily, I was given something different to maybe give me a bit more ideas. So I was given one to work on that dealt with Chicagoland accredited stagers to maybe stir up an idea or two. Having been the first time writing anything for stagers, I went on my way and got the idea (again) for placing an image along the side to add a bit more of a unique-ish look from theirs. Changing up what you’re working on can do wonders for creativity. Although I only got one idea from this, it’s still better than nothing.

Bold or italic your keywords

As mentioned previously, search engine optimization is about optimizing your webpage for certain keywords that you would like to position at. Besides increasing the keywords density of the page, bolding or italicizing the keywords does help in your search engine optimization effort. This is because the indexer, which is one of the components of a search engine, actually rips apart a page into various components and analyze them. These include the title, heading, bold, italic and other style portions of a page. When you bold or italic a word, the indexer will interpret this word as of higher importance and relevance than other words in the same paragraph or statement, thus helping your search engine optimization effort.

Daily Blogroll #2

Today I began working on http://chem-dryperformance.net/.  This site required heavy content and bullet points. The reason for such was because the site, before i was assigned to it, had three paragraphs and no bulleted lists.  Bulleted list are important in SEO because it allows you to uses an entirely organic keyword in a list with other keywords. Due to the fact that it had no bullets and a lack of keyword dense content, it had poor ranks.  Hopefully the heavy amount of content and multiple use of each keyword will ensure its cumulation of first page placement and higher rankings.

Next I began to work on http://bestlandscapedesign.net/.  This site need alot of content as well.  So I began by doing research on landscaping and landscaping accessories.  I was able to find an immense amount of information on everything Faux Waterfalls, to what kind of grass best in certain climates.  Not to mention I was able to easily address the keywords consistently in the content and the bullet points.  This site came together very well.

After which I had to take a look at its sister site http://jglandscapedesign.net/.  This site showed an under construction page, which is in fact untrue because it has been completed for some time.  So I checked to make sure all of the datebase login information was correct.  It was not, so I editted it to match the correct information, then saved.  Much to my happiness, it worked and the site is back up and running.

Then I worked on http://makecashwithhenley.com/.  This site required A LOT of content.  It was almost obscene how much content was required.  I went ahead and wrote quite a bit about travel side of the business and the kewords, then I decided to focus more on the MLM aspect of the site.  I added many keywords in bulleted form and in standard content form.  Hopefully this will increase the ranks of the site.

I Went on to work on keystopprperty.net/.  This site was in pretty bad shape considering it not only lacked hardcore content, but it also had zero (0) bullets, which basically meant it had no keywords on the page whatsoever.  Considering, it had no ranks, I was not surprised to find that it was a waste of online space.  I went ahead and hooked it up with not only tons of content about Key Largo, but I also added several bulleted list about keywords and whatnot.
