SEO & The Real Estate Industry

Search Engine Optimization is important for all businesses that have a web presence.

Today the internet is overflowing with an over abundance  of Real Estate Sites. And, of course they all offer FREE information. But, they rarely have a unique style. They are all pretty much bland and cold feeling. Kinda like walking into a clean room. Here you can see an example of what I am talking about: http://www.antiquerealestate.com/. Or, if they are nice looking they have too much on the front page that just confuses the user. Here’s an example of that: http://www.downeast.com/Real-Estate/Real-Estate-at-its-Best/ , “This one actually gives me a headache”.

You need something in between. Like this: Real Estate Texas; this one is simple, easy to navigate, non-confusing and well-styled.

Improve your site overall

Naming the alt tags in images, a good web SEO person should always make sure that the web designer is always making a note of this. This good SEO practice will not only improve your web page but also help tell the individual person that can’t see the image that didn’t download for some reason. When it comes to images, it is as important when it comes to SEO. Why because Search Engines are also reading the alt tags of each images it crawls. This is good to know when it comes to properly optimizing a web page. Keep in mind that this will help improve your site overall.

Trying to stay stress free in the workplace

I have noticed recently that all of us at times get stressed out on how much work is thrown on us seems like every day…I am probably more guilty at this than most, but to my defense I usually have to have everything in control and in an order to function..lately I have realized that this is just not possible all the time it is something I will have to get better at… I realizes there are no links for not stressing the f#%k out at work cuz we all do it…I have just noticed that about me…I blame this on content writing the most, design seems so easy once I got all the new tricks of css down…still seem to struggle in content writing which is odd cuz I used to actually be good at writing…maybe I am getting crabby in my old age or maybe it is just the repetitiveness that is getting to me…ugh Just a vent post

Scary Predicament

Recently there was a pretty bad predicament where one of the sites had lost its information and was, of course, on a rush to be finished as soon as possible. So this is where you ask the appropriate questions to get it done as soon as possible. Ones like:

“Are there any backups available?”
“Who worked on this the first time around?”
“Is the database still intact?”

To my misfortune, the answers to the backups and database were both “no” and I had to work on a Las Vegas event photographer site with pretty much next to nothing but the original and a splash page to go off of. Considering the keywords it had, it really wasn’t all that difficult. Just annoying is all. Just to say, if stuff like this happens, you just do what you can to do it as good as possible as soon as possible.

No, it’s Not a George Foreman Grill

So any ideas you had about setting it up and then forgetting it…well…forget it. With search engines sending out their spiders to the sites out on the internet on a regular basis, you have to make changes and update it. Sure, weather RSS and feeds are always a good thing, but a site needs more than updates like that. Because the people in charge of those search engines are trying to make the rankings earned harder. So they’re making better spiders to see that the only thing you’re doing to update a site is that RSS where you don’t really take any action to change.

Adding a page or two to your site will do the trick. All new text and even rephrases of what you have written before will do. Although make sure it’s not too similar to those previous pages. A site I completed dealing with professional landscaping has just that. Thanks to the developers, the system involved makes scheduled page additions to the site. Completely unreadable until the day comes that it’s scheduled to appear. In a bit less than 45 days or so, another page will come up on this site. So yeah. Keep updating your sites and thinking of bigger and better ways to make yours stand out more than the rest.

localized keywords

Localized key words are very important for a sites business, why is this you might ask, well it will be answered shortly. Localized keywords give a company an advantage by target a certain demographic area. For example, if you have a small business that is only in one area then you are not going to be providing your services to the whole nation and just the town you are in then a localized keyword list is the perfect way to go. If you have non-localized keywords then people that you will bring into your site will be in all other parts of the country then where you are at, however with localized keywords you will only get local, serious buyers thus more business and less money spent on inadvertently advertising nation wide. For example, you are searching on google for a bakery in Las Vegas only people with the keyword of bakery in Las Vegas will show on the results,  if you don’t have it then thats a potential sale that is lost.

Internet Explorer vs. Firefox

The battle with HTML and CSS to align with both browsers….totally impossible or at least I have not figured it quite out yet…Working on a splash page today and trying to get it to look right in both browsers..now don’t ask me why they can not look the same with the same margins and content, but they don’t… The worst part is making it look right in one browser and then having to figure out why it looked different in the other and why…it takes forever

Anyways I know that there is an easy solution …i guess flagging two separate css style sheets one for IE and one for Firefox….

I will find it!!! or not

Images and Alt tags

The images in your website can help out a lot with SEO by including alt tags. Make sure you describe images well so that it goes accordingly to your SEO friendly site, use it well by the way. Alt tags are also great when someone goes to your website and the download of images doesn’t happen for some reason, they will actually know what it was suppose to be.

Be Friendly, Now!

Be Friendly, Now!

It really does make a difference when you are friendly to the people you work with. I believe that if you are friendly and polite, then people seem to like you a lot more. Not to mention it makes it easier to break the ice, and get to know each other. There is nothing wrong with feeling comfortable and relaxed at the workplace. I have found it, personally, easier to do my job when I know everyones name and can conduct the business I need to complete my project. I prefer to be friendly and happy at the office, because courtesy is contagious, and its easier to smile than it is to frown. Keep in mind that when you have a friendship with someone at work, you could almost look forward to work in the morning. It could also give you someone to go to lunch with, if you have that sort of lunch/break schedule. And lastly, your supervisor and/or boss could see your friendly behavior, and see that you are personable and handle people well. They will notice that you keep a positive attitude and get along well with others as almost in a leadership fashion. Remember when you are at work, someone is usually watching, so why not be a good person to be around?
